Durban film director Madoda Ncayiyana won a Simon Sabela Award at the Durban International Film Festival in a glamorous award night at the Durban ICC. The evening was full of celebrities and film industry notables, as well as VIPs an politicians. Hosted by comedian Nik Rabinowitz and actress Bonnie Henna, there were many other entertainment celebs performing, including singers Zonke, Ringo and Danny K, and comedians David Kau and Mark Lottering. Madoda’s award was as a Director in the Professionals category. He was presented with his award on stage by South African film director now working in Hollywood Gavin Hood, who won an Oscar for the South African film classic, Tsotsi.
